In its 5 year existence, IDC has built an impressive client base from the private and public sectors, including household name global companies. IDC is now seen as a market leader in D&I and flexible working consultancy and transformational, change management. As a result of its rapid growth to an international consultancy, Ian Dodds, its founder, is listed, by invitation, in the 2009 edition of 'Who's Who of Britain's Business Elite'. It has become an increasingly global company, and in the past 2 years has consulted in over 120 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin and North America. Increasingly, IDC’s views are sought by journalists and public bodies such as Government commissions.
We seek to be in tune with the current needs of its clients which is why, in the present economic climate, we're so entusiastic about our Profit Generation Diversity Programme. We have done this in association with Virtcom Consulting (market leaders in bottom line diversity in the US), proven to enable clients to find big financial return opportunities from D&I.
Our clients come from the commercial, professional and public sectors, and range from small organisations with fewer than 50 employees to multinational corporations and major Government departments. Our client list includes Coca-Cola, Cisco Systems, DSG International, The Economist Group, Goldman Sachs, IBM, JPMorgan Chase, Linklaters, McDonalds, Philips, Pitney Bowes, Sainsbury’s and UK Government departments, e.g. The Cabinet Office, Defra and The Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
A new development is that IDC is pioneering virtual means of delivering D&I engagement and learning activities (see June 2009 Best Practice). We are doing this in conjunction with The FutureWork Institute, Ian Dodds was one of its cofounders, and Group Partners. British Telecom (BT) recently told the Economist that “agile working” saves the company $355 million a year. BT advises both internal and external clients on "agile working", to help them reduce CO2 emissions, improve work-life balance and ensure compliance with the European Union's Working Time Directive. As a result of its recent efforts to curtail unnecessary travel and focus ever harder on conferencing, BT says it’s reduced its expenditure on air travel and accommodation by around 70% in the last 12 months.
IDC's website has been deliberately designed to offer free value adding resources to all its visitors. Our monthly D&I best practice viewpoints are widely accessed, and illustrate one of our key business values — that we believe in transferring our expertise and know-how to clients and not making them dependent on our experience.
